Hire of Civil Engineering Plant, Vehicles and Equipment with Operator(s)

Kirklees spends around £1.55 Million annually. The contract is being let to include lots for the neighbouring authorities of Bradford, Calderdale, Leeds, Wakefield and York.

Yearly spend is estimated at City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council £30,000.00, The Borough of Calderdale Council £100,000.00, Kirklees Council £1,550,000.00, Leeds City Council £1,625,000.00, City of Wakefield Metropolitan District Council £100,000.00 and City of York Council £100,000.00.

The contact is in place to supplement the delivery of highways projects. This includes, but not limited to, excavator with drivers, Hiabs and tippers with drivers and planning and surfacing machines. The capital required to purchase these items of plant, combined with the running costs and uncertainty of work dictates the hire model as the most economical.

The current contract ends at the end of November 2023. A small extension will have to be in place to bridge the gap between the current ending and the new contract commencing.
