Corporate Electricity Supply – agreement of longer-term purchasing strategy

A decision was taken to move the Council’s Electricity supply contract to EDF (part of the Crown Commercial Services framework) on 15th September 2022 for commencement from 1st April 2023.

This decision relates to the chosen CCS longer-term trading strategy for purchasing electricity from the options available. This decision will take effect from 1st April 2024 but is required to be made 12 months in advance of supply period.

As a utility provision, this is considered to meet the definition for an essential expense and day-to-day service in the Council’s Constitution (section 14.2)

The decision was taken to instruct CCS/EDF to change the Council’s purchasing strategy from the initial ‘Locked 6’ offer, to ‘Locked 12’, which is a change from a 6-month purchasing window for the subsequent one year contract period to a 12-month purchasing period for the subsequent one year contract.
