Allotment Price Increase 23/24

Decision Maker: Service Director - Highways & Streetscene

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

Allotment prices have not been raised to cover increased costs within Kirklees is within the last 10 years, and as such Kirklees pricing had fallen into the bottom 20% of all local authorities (according to APSE data). Alternative options such as discount removal were looked into, but a decision was made for this financial year to increase all prices whilst amending the current discount rate and criteria.

Prices will raise from £28 per annum to £76 per annum, and discounts will be applied at a rate of 25% for plot holders over the age of 70. Additionally sites with water will have their water rate rise from £1.42 per annum to £17 per annum.

Prices will change October 2023, with 2024 invoices payable in January 2024.

Decision:

This decision was taken to increase prices for the service to standardise them with other local authorities both nationally and within West Yorkshire, and begin to recover costs.
