The Council has been awarded a contract from the European Social Fund to deliver the Youth Engagement and Progression 2 as part of a partnership with Leeds and Bradford Local Authorities and C + K Careers. For the purposed of this agreement Leeds City Council are acting as lead authority .
The programme will be branded as Employment Hub in Leeds and Bradford and Works Better 1525 in Kirklees.
The project will provide additional support for unemployed young people aged 15 to 25. It will provide tailored support, focussing on improving self-confidence and self-worth so that they are empowered to take an active role in making decisions about their own choices. We will provide them with opportunities to achieve by offering stimulating, informal, atypical curriculum inputs in a non –academic context including occupational tasters to support career exploration, team building and short course vocational tasters.
The project will target marginalised individuals and the unemployed. Acting as a bridge from Not in employment, education and training (NEET) we will support individuals to address complex barriers to return to or remain in education, employment or training (EET). Helping young people transition from NEET to EET.
The project will build on the success of Employment Hub and YEP projects due to finish on 31st December 2021
It seeks to support 1000 residents the value of the funding agreement is £616, 000 of which £305,000 can be deemed as grant.
To enter into Funding agreement with Leeds City Council;
To accept the Grant funding from Leeds City Council;
To deliver the project.
