To ensure take up of a grant allocation from DLUHC for the delivery of a 4-bedroom home by the funding deadline of 31 July 2024.

Alternative options that were considered were to convert a vacant shop unit with living accommodation above into a 4-bed house, however it is not possible to commit the funding before the DLUHC deadline as the project has not yet been procured.

The purchase of second-hand properties was also considered, however these carry a risk that the purchase may not complete before the deadline and that the cost of remedial work would make it a more expensive option than a newbuild off the shelf purchase.

To purchase a 4-bedroom property from Keepmoat Homes for the sum of £290,000 in order to fulfil the authority’s obligations under the Local Authority Housing Fund programme.
