Decision Maker: Cabinet

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

Following the declaration of a Climate Emergency and Air Quality Management Areas, reports and plans have been presented to Cabinet in November 2019 to deal with the challenges. Cabinet requested officers to go further and identify additional action around sustainable travel. As a result, a further report has been prepared recommending additional investment in Electric Vehicles in the Council fleet and public charging infrastructure – investment should be prioritised through the budget setting process.

Decision:

1)    That the content of the report be noted and that Council be recommended to prioritise the consideration of allocating spending in the capital bids in relation to Electric Vehicles and infrastructure in the budget setting process.

2)    That the Service Director (Environment), in consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Greener Kirklees, be delegated authority to amend the terms of the ‘Green Permit’, as detailed in para. 3.12 of the considered report.
