The Mayor conveyed congratulations on behalf of the Council to Kirklees Fairtrade Forum which had recently been successful in renewing its status as a Fairtrade borough.

The Mayor also provided details on the arrangements for the meeting and how the debate on the Kirklees Democracy Commission report would be managed.

Group Business Managers to submit any apologies for absence.

Apologies for absence were received on behalf of Councillors Dad, Greaves, Hussain, Kaushik and Watson.

The Councillors will be asked to say if there are any items of the Agenda in which they have a Disclosable Pecuniary Interests, which would prevent them from participating in any discussion of them items or participating in any votes upon the items, or any other interests.

There were no declarations of interest.

Council will receive and discuss the draft report, findings and recommendations of the Kirklees Democracy Commission.

Please note that it is proposed that Council Procedure Rules relating to motions and debate will be suspended to allow a more informal discussion/debate on this matter.
