The Appeals Panel meets to determine any
appeal or application which is at any time to be determined by a
Council Committee, but not specifically delegated or referred to
any other Committee, primarily:-
1.
Appeals relating to the allocation of free school transport for
children under the age of 16. Appeal Members have discretionary
powers and can award a bus pass for free home to school travel, but
only where exceptional circumstances are clearly demonstrated.
2.
Appeals concerning travel assistance for young people aged 16 and
over who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
(SEND). Appeal Members will review the
original decision taken to either, provide physical transport or
award a Personal Travel Budget (PTB), look at whether the procedure
had been correctly followed, and
determine whether there are any exceptional circumstances that had
not already considered.
