Tackling Inequalities Action Plan

 

 

The Tackling Inequalities Action plan will establish actions across key themes where both Kirklees Council and Partner Organisations can address the known issues relating to inequalities bought to light by COVID-19 and the re-energised Black Lives Matter movement following the death of George Floyd. The action plan builds on the 2018/19 Inclusion & Diversity Strategy and the shorter-term community led response to inequalities specific to COVID-19, along with parallel strategies such as the tackling poverty plan, economic recovery plan, and inclusive economy work specific to individual aspects of the inequalities agenda.

Consultation process

Employee networks are being engaged with on the development of the plan, who provide valuable insights as both employees and citizens of Kirklees. Consultations have also taken place with partners and the document has been shaped by the lessons learned from our response to supporting different communities through the Covid-19 crisis and Black Lives Matters protests.

Members/Officers Involved: Discussions have take place with the Leader, as Portfolio Holder, Chief Executive and other senior officers in the development of the plan, which will inform the final versions for Council on 21 October. An intelligence-led approach has been taken to this piece of work, particularly around the implications of Covid-19 and ongoing dialogues with Public Health colleagues have helped to shape the plan.
