In November 2020 the government confirmed the awards to local authorities as part of Tranche 2 of the Active Travel Funding. Tranche 2 was allocated to local authorities to provide facilities to support safe walking and cycling. As part of Tranche 2 allocations form the Active Travel Fund, Kirklees has received £1.9 Million.
The purpose of this report is to inform the Cabinet of the current status of the Active Travel Fund Tranche 2 Programme for Kirklees District and to seek relevant authorities to proceed by undertaking activities such as receipt of grant monies, feasibility design, consultation and engagement and delivery.

Consultation process
A decision is required to proceed with the development of the Active Travel Fund Tranche 2 programme as planned, enter the Active Travel Fund Tranche 2 programme onto the Kirklees Capital Plan, and to accept prospective development funding from the Combined Authority.
Public consultation is not required to support these decisions. Public consultation is planned to be undertaken on these schemes in Quarters 3 and 4 of FY 2021/22.
