A building contract with GMI to redevelop the George site as a hotel, and an easement agreement with Network Rail to facilitate necessary access and egress

 

This decision is to enable progression of the project as resolved by Cabinet on 5th November 2024 to refurbish and redevelop the George Hotel in Huddersfield Town Centre to transform this building into a modern new hotel as part of the Huddersfield Blueprint

 

This decision is to enter into a building contract with GMI and enter into an Agreement for and a Deed of Grant of Easement with Network Rail following the delegation granted at Cabinet on 5th November 2024.

 

Alternative options were considered at Cabinet on 5th November 2024 but were discounted as the decision was taken to continue with the proposed refurbishment and redevelopment.
