PURPOSE
To carry out any Non-Mayoral Function of the Combined Authority relating to business, innovation, skills, and employment including business growth and productivity, business support, innovation, digital, trade and inward investment.
PERIOD/TERM OF OFFICE
The term of office for a Local Authority member on the Economy Committee is ongoing unless the nomination is terminated by the nominating Local Authority. However, nominations are usually re-confirmed following the annual meeting of the Local Authority.
ROLE/EXPECTATIONS OF REPRESENTATIVES
The role of a Local Authority member appointed to the Economy Committee is to take a full and active part in the work of the committee which includes progressing elements of the vision and policy framework of the Combined Authority that fall within the Committee’s terms of reference, and working with other key partners of the Committee to develop and promote coherent strategies and policies.
Expectations are that the member nominated will be the relevant portfolio holder/cabinet member for that policy area within the respective Local Authority.
MEETINGS/TIME COMMITMENT
3 scheduled meetings per annum. Each meeting lasts on average 2 hours and meetings are currently held at the offices of the WYCA, Wellington House, Leeds.
