PURPOSE
The Healthy Working Life Board was established in 2025 and brings together the Combined Authority, the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, and elected representatives from the five constituent councils, together with executive officer representation from key stakeholders within the Work, Skills & Health ecosystem including the Department for Work & Pensions, Job Centre Plus. The Mayor, Chief Executive of the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board and the Combined Authority’s Chief Executive are all members of the Board.
The aim of the Healthy Working Life Board is for partners to work together to reduce economic inactivity in West Yorkshire by providing strategic direction, challenge, and oversight to the respective accountable bodies and decision-makers to support a coherent and simplified landscape for employment support and health provision. Recommendations made by the Healthy Working Life Board will influence current programme development, including the economic and populations outcomes for the life of the Work and Health Plan to 2040.
